NaNoWriMo 2011, Part 1: A Journal

I've decided to be easy on myself this year and use a story idea I had from before last year's NaNoWriMo. It's a historical fiction piece, with a bit of fantasy, but my main interest is in the historical. I'm intrigued by historical books, maybe because I see them as a challenge. A good author of historical fiction stays true to the time period and presents a new story in familiar settings, truely a work of art. I'm not sure yet, how much historical accuracy my story will need, but I doubt that I will get into a lot of detail that doesn't already come from my knowledge base, since I don't want to spend a lot of time researching, thus defeating the point of NaNoWriMo.

I'll be keeping track of my progress as I go here on My Journal. I will also keep track of my daily word count using NaNo's site. I will be add a third dimension this year. I will be using a novel organization sorftware called Scrivener. Currently, there is only a beta version for Windows, which is what I am using. The version for Mac is 45$. Tomorrow, my writing group will be having a guest speaker, and I'm sure we will be talking more about how we will be handling NaNo this year. I'm excited to get to work on my ideas!
